An accessible celebration of poetry for everyone, whether you read a poem a day or not at all.

Poetry is often thought of through its form — couplets, sonnets, villanelles, sestinas, haiku, the Homeric epic, etc. — sets of rules or constraints that cement a piece of writing as poetry. However, poetry is not always defined by rhyme schemes and line breaks. Many great works are created by making up your own rules, breaking the rules, or ignoring the idea of rules altogether.

We will read and have a casual discussion of poetry, as it pertains to our own personal interests, without major emphasis on theory or technique — choosing instead to focus on the things within poetry that move or excite us, as individuals — and celebrate the art form, as National Poetry Month comes to an end.
